What Data Cabling System Is Right For You?

Data cabling is the lifeline of any modern business, and yet many companies fail to plan properly when they install or upgrade systems.

At ACCL, we have many years’ experience in helping customers to choose the right data cabling solution to meet current requirements and allow for future developments. We’re fast, efficient and thoroughly professional, from initial enquiry through to installation and final documentation.

What’s involved in a data cabling installation?

The very process of planning and installing data cabling is a highly complex task. You need a data cabling expert who can understand the technical requirements of your business, overcome the physical limitations of your building and allow for future changes in demand and office layout.

Nearly all data networks involve running cables throughout an entire building infrastructure. These cables connect the data server (computers in most cases) to other individual pieces of equipment (computers, printers, telephone systems etc). There are several factors that may make data cabling a complicated process.

  1. Firstly, individual cables are not labelled out of the box (although groups of cables may be colour coded). An installer must be able to identify these by sight.
  2. The cables must be organised in such a way that they do not constitute an obstacle to anyone in the building, which may require moderate construction work.
  3. Depending on the size of the network, hundreds if not thousands of assorted data cables may need to be installed and properly protected from other trades and staff during the installation.
  4. Installation without regard to correct desk management within your public areas may cause unsightly and dangerous twists of cable across a floor, which can trip the unwary and ruin the network in the process.
  5. Finally, all this needs to be accurately tested and documented to meet the required technical standards and your precise requirements.
