    Vehicular Gates, Barriers and Bollards

ACCL can offer a Vehicular Gates, Barriers and Bollards solution that ranges from a single electronic sliding gate through to rising bollards and road blocker systems. All of our systems can be integrated with our Access Control solutions and can be enhanced by the incorporation of Lighting, CCTV and Automatic Number Plate Recognition hardware and software. All systems can incorporate a timer so that free access is provided when desired.

And if you need multi-site access control from a single central monitoring station controlling gates, doors and CCTV, we can link it all together.

    Design & Maintenance

ACCL can design and have manufactured any Vehicular Gates, Vehicle Barriers, and Bollards solution and have it tested all standards including the PAS 68 high security, counter terrorism grade. We offer a comprehensive planned and emergency maintenance service. All our installations will comply with Health and Safety Regulations.

The choice of Gates, Barriers or Bollards will depend on a number of factors as will the choice of Access Control system. As noted above, as an independent operator, we consult with our clients and select the best equipment to suit their needs. Some clients will want to replace a manned traffic barrier with an automated solution; others will want to monitor and control car parking; whilst others may perceive a security threat and want to deal with it.

    Gates

Gates tend to come in three variants – Sliding Gates, Swing Gates and Bi-folding Gates. Gates are best suited to sites where the operator has walls and fences and want to offer a solid deterrent with the benefit of automatic opening. Sliding Gates will not intrude roadside. They do run on tracks. They are suited to lower traffic volumes as they take longer to open. Swing Gates will have a maximum width and height restriction – a 6m x 3m system would require up to 30 seconds to open. Larger sized entrances are better served by Bi-folding Gates which will open at twice the speed of a Swing Gate. Swing Gates and Bi-folding Gates are self-supporting and do not require tracks to be installed.

    Barriers

Barriers are typically used in car parks to prevent cars from coming on-site without access permission. In a public car park this might involve taking a ticket. In a staff and guests car park, it is common for there to be a combination of Access Control and Intercom. ACCL can also integrate CCTV for visual permission and Automatic Number Plate Recognition to allow registered staff instant access and temporary registered guests, temporary access. A useful addition is a capacity counter which can be set with an alert when a car park is nearly full.

Barriers come as a straight beam or beam and security skit (which hinges with the bean as it raises to the horizontal). They have few moving parts (for reliability) and are normally housed in weatherproof stainless steel housings. The beams themselves come in a variety of materials.

ACCL is able to incorporate payment systems where required.

    Bollards

Bollards come as fixed (permanent concreted-in), semi-fixed (hinged so they be manually lowered) and rising bollards which can be integrated with an Access Control system and linked to Security and Fire systems. They can also be activated on by a Timer. All variants require an element of groundwork which ACCL is happy to undertake. Bollards can be used to control both car parking and to provide pedestrian-only access – rising bollards provide the facility to vary according to need.

    Road Blockers

Road Blockers or Rising Curbs (or cheese wedges) come in both surface mount and trench mount variants. They can be used in the same way as a car park barrier to control the flow of vehicles but are a more solid deterrent. They also come in the PAS 68 counter-terrorism standard capable of stopping a fully loaded 7500kg lorry traveling at a speed of 50mph. For Trench mounted systems, a site survey is imperative as the mechanisms that operate them are all below ground. ACCL will provide a survey and undertake all groundworks.

    Integration

All of ACCL’s Vehicular Gates, Barriers and Bollards solutions will integrate with our CCTV; Automatic Number Plate Recognition; Pedestrian Gates and Turnstiles; and Access Control systems should any of these be required.
