Sumitomo Corporation Europe Limited

Contractor: DMG

Partnerships: Levition and Edmundson Electrical Datatech

Project type: IT Infrastucture and Fibre network

Background:

Sumitomo Corporation Europe Limited aimed to reimagine their London trading floor to enhance collaboration, embed sustainability, and support future digital requirements. The project called for a workspace that blended modern design with operational continuity—ensuring that business stayed uninterrupted during all phases of construction and network upgrades. Design & Build Fit-Out Contractor DMG Workplace selected ACCL as the trusted installation partner, to implement a high-performance, sustainable network solution in this live, complex environment.

Project Challenges

Delivering this upgrade presented several challenges:

  • Maintaining 24/7 operational continuity for a busy trading floor throughout installation, with no room for connectivity or compliance errors.
  • Integrating dense, high-specification cabling for 10GbE, PoE, and fibre connectivity, all within strict space, fire safety (CPR Cca), and aesthetic requirements.
  • Navigating limited riser capacity, legacy pathway constraints, and tight work schedules that demanded rapid, low-impact installation.
  • Championing sustainability at every stage to achieve SKA Gold Certification, covering everything from emissions-tracked deliveries to reuse of materials and waste minimisation.

ACCL’s Approach and Solutions

ACCL delivered a phased network infrastructure rollout, enabling Sumitomo Corporation Europe Limited to remain at full operational strength throughout the project.

  • Deployed Leviton’s 10GPlus® Cat6A U/FTP cabling system for high-density, shielded connectivity, optimised for demanding trading environments.
  • Integrated the OPT-X™ Unity System backbone, providing streamlined, scalable fibre connectivity tailored to future upgrades.
  • Scheduled works in tightly managed phases to dovetail with DMG Workplace’s fit-out programme, ensuring seamless integration and zero downtime.
  • Prioritised sustainable logistics by partnering with FORS Silver-certified fleet providers and coordinating carbon-offset deliveries, cutting emissions and reducing site disruption.
  • Led on sustainable practices including the reuse of cable drums and packaging and implemented proactive documentation to support SKA Gold Certification and compliance with UK and international standards.

ACCL also facilitated in-person site visits with client and contractor teams, offering transparency into traceability, product stewardship, and environmental credentials at every step.
