Overview

The Winter Club was a seasonal destination created by Urban Playground at Wood Wharf. Although the venue was temporary, its payments, ticketing, entertainment, safety and operational systems required a resilient physical network designed to commercial standards.

The challenge

ACCL had to work within a compressed build programme alongside multiple trades, coordinate three different environments and position cabling, access points and cameras without undermining the guest experience. The sub-zero Ice Bar required particular care around equipment positioning and transitions between temperature zones.

One network across three contrasting environments

ACCL installed the Cat6A platform required by point-of-sale terminals, ticketing, Ubiquiti access points, IP cameras, media systems and staff networks. Access points and cameras were positioned to provide operational coverage while remaining visually discreet throughout the Bierhaus, chalet and Ice Bar.

Permanent standards for a temporary venue

The completed infrastructure gave The Winter Club a dependable technology backbone for peak seasonal trading. The Ice Bar image records the unusual operating environment, while the finished system shows why a temporary venue still requires permanent-grade network design and delivery.

Foreword by Wayne

Wayne Connors, Managing Director, ACCL

“The Winter Club is a great example of why a temporary venue should never mean temporary standards. From the outset, the technology had to be treated as business-critical infrastructure because ticketing, payments, Wi-Fi, CCTV and day-to-day operations all depend upon it.

The unusual part of this project was delivering one integrated solution across three very different environments, including an Ice Bar operating at around -10°C, while working to a fixed opening date alongside multiple trades. Our team delivered a Cat6A, Wi-Fi and CCTV infrastructure designed to perform reliably throughout the busiest periods of the winter season, while remaining discreet within what is ultimately a guest-focused entertainment environment.”
